2000 328i engine running rough & check engine light on! - BMW Forum

Hi all, I'm new here, hoping you can help. My 2000 328i has always run beautifully but just this morning, I turned it and I could tell right away that something was wrong - the engine seemed to be running sluggish and the check engine light came on immediately, and the car died. I started it again, it seemed a little better, then the check engine light came on and stayed on and the engine kept running sluggish. I just noticed the oil service light is on as well, but I have had the oil changed within the last 5,000 miles...help!

Honestly, what you're describing could be a variety of things. When you say the engine is running sluggish does the car also accelerate sluggishly as well?

I'm sorry for being vague. I just got back from driving it to the dealership - it drove beautifully! But the SES light was on the entire time.

Just wanted to follow up and let everyone know what my mechanic (who is a trusted friend) said - the 6th coil needed to be replaced, as well as the spark plugs (just hit 100K miles!). Running like a dream again.
