1999 BMW 323i Ignition Key Problem

Problem: Can't remove ignition key from ignition switch.

I can start the car, turn it off, use the accessory. When I try to remove the key from the iginition switch I can't get it out.

Anyone seen this problem or have a fix/suggestion on how to remove the key?

Is the wheel turned to one side? Gently turn it slightly toward straight and see if unloading the steering lock helps.

I can move the steering wheel from side to side. I can even drive the car, but when I stop and park I can't remove the key.

Well that's a more serious lock issue then.

were you able to get your key issue resolved? i am having the exact same problem..

you most likely have a bad tumbler you might try removing it then taking the key out.. then put the key back in the tumbler then back in the housing.. if you search in google how to remove ignition switch in e36 itl tell you

Is it auto or Manual?
If auto, it could just be the Gear selector... Give it some force LOL
If Manual then it will be the barrel... Locating pin may be worn!
