View Poll Results: Of these 2 rims, which would look most appropriate on a black 2001 325Ci?
I'm having a hard time picking rims (as I imagine everyone does). I am trying to avoid any of the 'normal' bmw rims since I want to be a little different. I do like some of them (especially yours Woobie).
As far as I can tell, a 1 piece is the strongest rim you can buy because of it's construction, but it's perhaps not as fancy as a 2-3 piece (or as expensive). Anyway, if you had to pick one of those above, which would it be and why?
I'd say go for the first one.... it's not ghetto looking.... anything with alot of crhome on it looks like ghetto to me... but that's just me. Besides, the first one looks cleaner.

I too don't like the chrome too much. However, I really like the look of that second rim. I was told a place close to me can strip off the chrome, which might make that rim look really awesome. However, I don't know how much that costs or how much they can do.
An important consideration is the ease of cleaning. Avoid wheels with gaps you cannot put your finger through. Given the amount of brake dust these cars give off, I suggest a wheel with no small gaps!
I was calling around a few shops around here that do rim repairs. They said the generally do not strip chrome because it doesn't come off very easily and depending on the shape of the rim (tight spaces, etc.), the chrome may not come off at all. They said there is no chemical way of removing the chrome and the only way to get it off is to sandblast the rims and then polish after. However, they said this can quite often damage the rim especially if it has sharp edges (as the 2nd rim does).
So, it looks like unless Foose will make me that rim in a polished aluminum or gunmetal, or something, the second rim is out. It's really a shame because it really does look pretty awesome.
If anyone knows a place that strips chrome off wheels in the Toronto area, please let me know.
