18" On BMW 330i

Hello I am new with the whole BMW experiance. I bought 18" rims for my 2001 BMW 330i but I cannot get tires for it! I went to the auto shop and they said that because I have some kind of "special" package and back tires are diffenret then the front (which I knew). However, he said that NO ONE will put same size tires and rims on this car!!! Is that true! They will not fit???!!! Help as I already bought rims (on ebay- very cheap!) and I am not sure if I should find a buyer for those rims.

Well myself working with tires, you can not put a rim and tire together if they are 2 different sizes, IE - 18in rim with a 19 or 17 inch tire, people have killed themselves trying to do this. A good place to look for tires is tirerack.com. If the rims are 18x8 I would get 225/40/18 for the fronts. If the rear rims are 18x8.5 or 9. Look into the 255/35/18 tiresizes

Hi! Assuming that the rims you bought are (In size) 8JX18 for front and 8.5JX18 for rear, you need tires 225/40 ZR 18(front) and 255/35 ZR 18(rear).I do not see any problem to obtain and instal these tires .
Check www.tirerack.com for big selection and really god prices. Good luck !

ok, i am not sure if i am being clear. All 4 rims are 18" exacly the same. I did not buy them different for the package I have. I bought them for standard, were my car has an optional tires. My question is that if I buy all tires the same for all the same rims will I be able to put the wheels on my car? I was told to buy 225/35/18. Is that no good?

BMW recommends with 18" wheels 225/40 front and 255/35 rear.

If BMW North America says the rear should be wider and lower in profile than front for18" rims, then must be reason for that! it is about safety , handling and comfort-stick to that! Buy 225/40Z(or W) for front and 255/35Z(or W) rear.

You no what? I never heard of 18" approved BMW rims with a 7.5 width, it should be at least 8.0 for front and 8.5" rear. This size is kinda "freaky" to me, another thing, nobody instal deep dish rims on 3 series ,it looks like they are for BMW 5 series, but mybe Im wrong!

OH!!! I am not sure to be honest with you They were not expensive so I can always sell but the hussle! THe guy who sold them said that they should fit all BMW 3 Series year 99+ , but he reserved the right to be wrong so who knows? I think I will just go to the shop that does it and have them look at the rims. Hoepfully if they are nor correct ones they will make some kind of deal with me- take the wrong ones and give me new ones with a charge or something... I do not know what to do aymore.

Logically , if they are the same(18"x7.5), lugs patern is (120mm x5) and in this case offset is right for your car (+35 mm), you would be able to put 225/40 on all four wheels, but better ask good tire specialist-perhaps they will work well for your car.

i disagree a little. the stagger is not necessary, my car handles much better with 235/40 x 18 all wheels, using stock perfpack rims.

like zibby said though, the offset of the new wheels must be correct. you can easily buy 235/40 tires for under $200 at the tire rack. the rims u bougth will fit no probelm

You right Peter! I am just worry about this x7.5" width, for real I`ve never come across with 18"x7.5, but may be this half an inch does not make any difference in width for thise wheels.

I talked to a guy I know ( he used to be a mechnic in Europe) and he told me that I will be able to put a 18x7.5 on the rear. My question is if i buy 225/40Z(or W) for front and 255/35Z(or W) rear will I be able to put them on four 18x 7.5 (35 offset) rims ?
