02 325I Rear Speakers make popping noise

When I am listening to music my speakers in the back make like a popping noise. Even when I turn off the stereo the back speakers still make the pooping sound has anyone else come across this problem or is it something to do with the Harmon Kardon speakers, do they just suck or something, can anyone help?

I have Harmon Kardon and I do not have a popping noise...sorry can't help more

Sounds like a blown speaker. You don't happen to have an aftermarket amp installed, do you?

They still make that sound after the stereo's turned off? Check if the speaker is still seated tight.

Well they are the stock speakers and how do i check if the are seated right. Do i just check in the trunk or do i have to pretty much open the back seat. Thanks for the replies.

Not exactly sure as I still have my stock speakers in as well. I know to access the rear speakers, you have to do so through the trunk, removing the liner panel. I don't know if the screen is easily removable from inside the cabin or not.

Have you had any problems with your stock speakers

Yes, I have occassional pops in my speakers now, but that's because I pumped another 150W per channel through them and turned the volume up a wee bit too high. That's what made me think you would have a blown speaker. But yours is occuring even when the stereo is off, which makes me think they aren't seated securely and are "popping" in and out of the recess.
