Wiring Garage Door Opener To Switch?

Anybody mount their garage door opener inside the engine carpartement, and then wire it to say the rear-window-lock switch? (which is useless anyhow.)

I think it would be cool to hit that switch to open the garage door instead of heaving to fumble with your visor or opener everytime.

As an added bonus, it would be cool if it was wired in such a way so you could easily remove it from the car if you ever needed to.

i did a set up in my dads porsche

you don't need to mount the remote in the engine compartment, there are some tiny universal ones that work really really well inside the dash. i will look up my old files and post what i used.

I concealed my garage door opener under the center console. I can very easily get to it when the battery needs to be changed. I simply soldered a wire to the grage door circuit board and ran that to a new switch I installed. The switch cost $1 at Radio Shak and I put it into one of my spare switch slots right in front of the shift lever.

Whoa, that's an AWESOME idea. My next mod.

Where can I get another garage door remote? I'd rather not mess with my existing one. Can you just mess with the dip switches on another one?
