Windshield Wipers

i was stuck on the interstate on a rainy day last week...i got home to turn off my windshield wipers and they remained in the up position...is there a rest button on them or do i just need a new motor?

If the wiper arm didn't slip on the shaft, and the motor just parks the wipers in the middle of the glass. You need a new motor.

son of a ass...do they run a lot? i've got quite a list of repaairs...
new front brakes...
new front struts...
leaky power steering hose
flex disc
AND now a new wiper motor...

That's what we all get for buying cars that are at least seven years old. Tough break. Wiper motors aren't very expensive, though.

what don't you check the fuse before you get a new motor

if u get this many problems with e36's then what should happen when you buy a 20yr old e30!?!?! i was goin to buy an e30 but wont coz of the age and e36's r much bigger and should b more reliable since they r newer but hmmm...

Precisely. Mine was taken care of extremely well, and I had the dealer go through it piece by piece when I bought it. Mechanically, it's new. However, if it's been rode hard and put away wet, then the car will die a lot faster.
