Hey I've had this problem before and it came back later on that day.. But I'm back in toledo now more risk at things getting stolen so I don't haqve time to wait on it to come back.. MY battey went dead and now my window acts like it has reset the stop point .. It goes up find for like an inch and then stops like its at the top of the track.. Any idea how to get it fixed ? its like the computer is confused.

you can reset the autosensors in the window by holding the button down for 15sec after the window is fully down.

so hold the switch down for 15 seconds and that is it it should go back up

Sorry about that previous post, I knew I had addressed this issue before.......give this a try!

In the Bentley this is the procedure it says should be done after repairs......

1. Close door & turn key on. Fully open front window.

2. Fully close front window.

3. Hold window button in up position for at least 5 seconds after window is closed.

4. Repeat for remaining window.

5. The windows should now be initialized and the anti-pinch & one one-touch up/down functions should be enabled.

you see the window is stuck open it doesn't go up so I can do that procedure

So you are saying your window only goes up an inch......?

yea or less a couple centimeters like the window thinks that that is where it's supposed to stop

hmmm....I guess I would try the procedure above again......& if this does not work.... did you try pulling the window up as it comes up that inch or so.....I think you might have to take the door panel off......maybe the regulator is jamming?

jamming on what though ? the door panel has been off a few time to replace broken plastic peices

I'm guessing it's the window switch, they usually go bad on e36's, btw there is a tech section and this isn't it.

any time I try and post somewhere other then the lounge it doesn't get seen for 3 or four days... If you were worried about you car being stolen youd post in the section that got you answers.. I ended up getting it figured out .. It was the door switch.. weird I know but I opened the door and pushed the button in the door jam while pulling up on the window and it seemed to work and now it both works..

How do you think it will ever change if people keep posting stuff in the lounge when it doesn't belong there. I appreciate daniel for taking care of it. Glad you got your problem fixed as well.
