Paint would definitely work. I have heard many people just tape on the window close to the trim and then paint over it. Are you talking about the dots?
Yeah i feel stupid asking this but what do you mean dots?

Around the rear window the black trim is a blend of dots that get smaller from the outside edge to the center of the window. I'm not sure what they are called, but it goes about 1" from the edgees of the glass? Understand? Sorry about the explanation.
I'd love some advice on this topic too. the ice and snow from St Louis ruined my window trims. They are peeling. Anyone else have any ideas on how to fix or replace these?
what im leaning towards doing right now is basically taking the rest of the window trim and crap of with this eurosol stuff from bavauto.... which will give me the clean metal.... then painting it.... although im not sure which paint to use
-Mark

hmm actually, being an engineer, I thought of using bondo or some type of body filler to fill in the chips...then taking a high grit sand paper to even it all out, resanding with wet sand paper with higher grit (800?)...priming it, then repainting it, then putting a clear coat over it.
are you guys talking about the dots around your windows on tha back? that is the dot matrix. it is pretty much just a boarder for your windsheild. you really cant take it off. sometimes, when tinting windows, you cant get the tint down all the way so u will get spots where it looks bad
No the trim around your windows.... its the black molding that goes over the passenger and drivers side windows.

Ok you know how when you close the door your window goes up a lil and seals itself. RIGHT above the top of your window you'll see this black trim that extends from your side view mirror area to the back window. Its a black strip that sits right above your windows....
