My 318is window used to work just fine, until one day it just started to act up. When i open and shut the door it rolls up and down just fine, but when im in the car and i want to roll it down i have to hit the button a million times, it goes down little by little. I tried even holding the button down it wont do the auto roll down either, so i dont know what to do. Hoping its not a bad motor. The driver's side works fine. Please if you guys know anything to help me out please let me know.

Try changing the Driver's and Passenger's window switches... if the problem duplicates itself, then the window switch is bad... if not, you might need to grease the power window regulator in the door.
Its not the button, i bought a new button for the drivers door because the top part was missing so i tried it on the passanger side, same thing happened. Im going to try that, it might be rubbing, but its hard to tell. Thanks for the help ill keep ya informed.

The problem is due to the magnet on the motor shaft.... its either moved outa position or fallen off... either fix the magnet in the the motor or buy a new one.... i would just buy a secondhand motor..
Happy hit it on the nose. The magnet is what tells the window module "where" the window is (or how far up or down). Since that magnet is broken or fallen off, the module won't allow the toll down feature because it won't know when to stop.
