Will E-46 M3 Engine Will Fit On E-36

Does anyone know if the e-46 m3 330 hp engine will fit on e-36 m3 or 328.
Did anyone did it before?

With anything, it has to do with money. "How fast do you want to go?"

I believe there was a post elsewhere on this forum that featured such a swap, but I don't know if it was the S54 M3 engine. Regardless of whether it fits or not (I would wager it does, being that it's a further evolution of the S50/S52 motor in E36 M3s), you'll still have to change out absolutely everything else - wiring, ECU, gauges, you name it. The amount of work wouldn't be worth it; I'd sooner buy another car.

Yes my overly rich friend(19YO with a e46 m3) got his m3 totaled becauce a truck driver fell asleep and rammed his left rear side. He cryed for a day;I would too. Two days later he emerged from his house and went out and bought a 318ti that day. Parked it in his 10 car garage w/ lifts and a rotisary. He then dragged his totaled M3 inside and started working recieving many packages. He worked for 6 months strait went to school for 3 hours worked for 4 then spent from 3pm to 12am working. He then invited everyone to his house and threw a party. half way he stated it was an unveiling party. he went in his garage and he opened the garagedoor and drove out what he dubbed E46 M3ti. He managed to transfer everything engine, trany, wiring harnes, exhaust, ect. He saved all but one M3 rim which had to be purchased online. Interior was redone in leather. UUC short shift kit, xenon interior lighting, full navigation computer/cd and MP3 player/ dvd player. Projector lights with titanium halos and xtec xenon head/fog light, E46 M3 bumper and fenders. The thing drove so fast cops didn't even bother to try and chase.

Hes keeping how he did it a secret but he got everything to work so yes a e46 m3 engine will fit in a e36 .

Yes it fits. Getting the engine in is the easy part, setting up the electronics is what makes it challenging.

Maybe the motor costs 25,000 NEW, but they can go for as low as 5 grand out of a wrecked e46 M3.

Will the s54 fit? Apparently so. Is it worth it? No. Electronics would be your main enemy. A lot of things wont be compatible probably.

What i would recomend is a s52 EURO SPEC engine. 321 hp and comes right form an e36 anyways.

Like everyone said, it will fit but it will require custom mounts and tons of patience with the wiring. I wouldn't attempt this if I were you. Spend 7-10k and get a euro spec ///M engine or get the Euro spec m5 engine from bimmerworld.com

yes its been done. evosport has a e36 with e46m3 engine. it is fucking sick!!!
fuck getting s52 if u got the money and the time to get an s54 in why not.
