there is a 1988 ( i think) bmw 325i for sale but it has been crashed and i was wondering will the engine fit in my 1991 318i? please help me out. thanks alot! :driving
'88 is the M50 or M20? Either way, you can make anything fit. It won't bolt on as the 4 cyl engine is smaller and has different mounting points than the 6 cyl. You would have to relocate all the engine mounts. Aside from that, it's just a matter of obtaining all the parts, computer, suspension, clutch, tranny, exhaust, etc.
I was thinking about that, I got family in germany. And you can ship cars by boat. But taxing for bringing in the car to the U.S. is a B!@TCH. But its worth it if I sell it here. Too much money tho. Would be nice to have a Euro Spec M3. B) B)
I think it's posible to swap engines. But... In europe it's illegal to do so. Our car papers tell the number of cylinders. When you crash and the police decide to perform technical research and find out youre driving a car with 2 more cylinders they can sue you. This is in europe I dont know if this is in the states as well.
when you say it will cost alot, are u talking about putting the engine in my car? and putting all the other parts in? or the actual cost of the parts? because i can buy the 325i for cheap , but agian it has been crashed so tside is in bad shape.
overall its MORE to swap than to sell and buy a 325
