My OBC is not working and I found an 18 button one.

Will that work without any changes?

nah, don't do it, it just doesnt plug and play into an e36. You would have to do re-wiring to get it to work. i bought one, and the obc has 2 harnesses that need to go into it. i had to return it on e-bay.. made some extra cash but i am still in need of an 11 button obc

but I can see that doing this procedure will only give you a new set of features but my question is, will it work with the normal comands just by plugging in the black connector?

thanks

I got one for around $100 on Ebay at the cost of a some burned out lines (10% or so when doing the display test) in the LCD, my previous one was not at all readable and only had a few lines left. BavAuto has new ones around $230. I never checked with the dealership.
