P1205 - bad injector cylinder 5
P0300 - multiple random misfire (plugs, wires, distributor/coil problem)
P0442 -EVAP small leak...
P0304 - misfire #4
P0306 - misfire #6
P0170 - fuel trim malfunction
P1189 - pump speed signal fault
P1188 - calibration memory fault
P0173 - fuel trim malfunction (b2)

If they all come back... change the brain. If only a few come back, let us know ;-)

Ok so only three codes came back the three codes are

p1189 cylinder 4-6
p0173 cylinder 4-6
p0170 cylinder 1-3

Also my friend had another problem that started today. Every time he shut the car off fuse #31 blows. Then the car will not start intill he changes the fuse again. Any clues on what would cause this. Also the motor is an L6 2.8l DOHC. Thank You

Cool

RE: CODES

P1189 denotes FUEL CONTROL Bank2 Sensor1
P0173 denotes Fuel Trim Bank 2
P0170 denotes Fuel Trim Bank 1

... given all three codes coming up at same time, i would factor these and start by inspecting your fuel filter. If u haven't changed it in awhile, I suggest you do.

While you doing that, inspect your filter... dirty? If yes, u got gunk in yo' tank that needs cleaning.

If clean... then suspect a weak or soon-to-fail fuel pump...

Arrow

uggh!... fuel trim problems... i hate these :-(

what it is fellas is that the brain cannot adjust the variables to achieve the 14.7:1 air to fuel ratio +/- a tolerable percentage. Several factors come into play here, unfortunately.

First, when was last tune-up? compression check, plug change(are they the correct range?), and air filter and don't forget the secondary air pump filter also. If these have not been serviced within any recent time, i suggest u do your basic tuneup first before you dig deeper. And don't forget to check for vacuum leaks.

Second, the sensors... AFM, TPS, 02 sensors. But let's not go into this for now.

Do the tuneup first so we eliminate the mechanical probs before u start probing the electrics.

* i almost want to suggest to go for a smog check- the readings for HC, CO, and NoX will surely provide a clue as to what could be wrong.

* when you take out the plugs, let me know the color of the electrodes.
