I WILL be buying a DASC for my 318is (M44) and i want to know if any members here would like to start a group buy. I am more than willing to contact DA for the info but i want to know before hand how many people I will be talking about. I also plan on asking this same question on bimmerforums.com so that we can get the best deal possible. Autotechnica says that he can get ONE unit for $3400 including shipping. So i do believe we can beat tat.

Lemme know who is interested...

yeah WTF is that?

AMG can't build an NA engine that can compete with M engines, so they stick in a supercharger and say their cars are faster. BMW could simply do the same, but they don't out of principle.

off the subject i've decided red in my fav color on 2dr bimmers... deloarant's pic made me think of that.

oh yeah and for 3gs on that dasc, buy a m3 engine and stick it in. or get a 328i and convert it to obd1. I've seen 328 engines for under 1gs with hardly any miles on them

shit I'll sell you my 325i block with most parts to do a swap for 400 lol... you can chip that and intake it and you'll be more then the dasc... it's not ideal for a 318 sorry man. it might be ideal for a 325 to SC it and even a 328i is worth it, but not a 318.

002 salvage yard in SF area and John's LKQ Automotive parts have those 328i blocks for around 850-1500 depending on the mileage on it. They also have had a 98 m3 engine there for 2800 at one point. 18003861399 is LKQ's #. Give them a call and ask for Brian. He's the man.

there is only one problem with your statement.. you are completely WRONG...

damn why does everyone come back to this stupid, ovbiously previously discussed topic of puting a six cylinder in the bay of a BMW 4 banger...

the engin mounts are different and futhermore located in different places.

personally, i think that your statement is rather insulting...

dont you think there are any competant 318 BMW owners out there...
if it was so easy and only cost your stated 3 g's than alot more of us would have dont it...

in fact.. i know someeone who did a full m3 engine in a 318ti.. he owns a car audio/video/performance shop in NJ... he spent 15 g's+ to do the full m3 conversion (engine, suspension, exhaust, etc.)

all it takes is a good mechanic who knows his way around the bimmer compartment to make a m3 engine fit in a 318. My mechanic said he has done it 3 times in a 318ti and in a 4dr 318. yeah it isn't as easy as doing a 325i to m3 swap but it can be done.

and not one thing I said put you down in anyway. It put your idea down and brought common sense to your "group buy" which also costs 3400! Did you take into consideration the cost to install a SC? Average install time is 12 hours. I stripped down two engines and pulled one out and put a new one in in less then 20 hours on one weekend with my mechanic. What I'd suggest you do is find a good trust worthy mechanic who will only charge you for the job and not an hourly wage (which a lot of guys will) and then get an engine and put it in. Shit, ship your car to spokane and my mechanic would put one in for 1000 total labor. Get it here by a friday it'll be done by Monday :P

also I never said you needed to do a full m3 conversion. You can do a 325i conversion and chip/intake it and you'll have more power then buying a SC.

My whole point was you can get more power for your car with probably less cost then a sc. or just buy a new car! you can get 6cylinders for around 5gs

this DASC is a simple conversion which people can do in one afternoon.
it comes with all hardware necessary and only changes on engine part.. the intake manifold... (which is attached to the blower and comes in the kit) there is no need for a A/F ratio gauge, Fuel pressure regulator, or chip. the entire kit is designed to work on all factory parts... including injectors and chip...

this is a very smart buy for those who dont want a completely "custom" job. it would be a good idea for all those who havent yet.. to read the website.. it is quite interesting

they have virtually eliminated engine wear due to using superchargers and have made impressive gains from 6 psi
