I had this error before as well. Usually it's just a broken or coroded wire. It's located in the middle of the engine bay somewhere. It's difficult to explain and most likely you won't be able to find it on your own. Do you also have an Oxygen sensor error as well?

Nope. I don't know that dude. But I am not getting the o2 sensor error, only the purge valve error. It happened after I drove through some deep (6") water.
The light flicks on and off once I get the car going, so it's a real pain in the azz. I assume that something is on the wire causing the false readings, but I have no idea what wire to check.
