Where Is My Fcc Number?

When I went in to Autozone to buy a replacement for my kelyess entry they told me I needed to find out my FCC Number for them. I was told this will be on a black box the size of a paper back book. Anyone know where this is at in my 325is?? Thanks!

Not there anyone else have any ideas? What I am looking for is the reciever box for the keyless system.

Is it the factory keyless entry/alarm system? If so - Ebay is the best way to get the remote. Just make sure it has 2 oval buttons (and not 3 square ones) and is for BMW E36. You'll pay 15$ for it, reprogram it and voila!

Time out! Some e36's use the three button remote, some use the two. What year is your car?

The "black box" is located behind the glove box, kind of a pain to get to.

Since you said you need to buy a replacement for your keyless entry, which keyless fob did you used to have? That will probably be a clue on which one you need to replace it with.

And yeah, I'd buy one off of e-bay rather than spend a fortune at the dealer (doubt autozone has a replacement for you).

It was the three button remote (three button lined up horizontally on the remote) but I lost it the just after I purchached the car. Do I simply buy an iddentical one on ebay then ask the stealer to to program it for me?

Yeah, 3 button remotes used to be before BMW factory keyless/alarm system shipped (1995). These are Alpine units and cost more.

When i bought my car from the 2nd owner she said it did not have keyless entry. I was running RCAs for my audio and found the stock keyless entry box under the glove box. Mine was real easy to get to except i popped one of the heater vents out and it was a pain to get back in. I just took mine out since I did not have a remote. I heard you have to have the remote programmed at BMW and it is 80$. If anyone knows different let me know because I am about to buy an aftermarket alarm and sell the BMW one on E Bay. My roomate works with Directed products all day and can get everything dirt cheap, so I will probably go with one of their alarms unless someone knows which remote to get and how to program it..
