My power locks don't work, I've checked every fuse related to the door locks and they seem to be fine, I plan to change them to be safe. But I can't find the central locking fuse/relay. I understand it is behind the dash but I don't understand how to get to it. I'm sick of people asking why a bmw doesn't have power locks. 97 328i by the way

You should begin by replacing the fuse on the central lock system.
then if that doesnt do it,
Check youre wiring on the trunk lid.
The harness thaty goes from the cars body to the trunk lid will become broken after years of use, and could short out the locking system, depending on wihch wire was broken.
This was a common defect for early production vehiacles, but some late models also had it too.
My 93 e36 began to stop locking the doors one day. After pulling the harness out anf checking the wires, two wires were broken.
Now it all works.

I've got a little luxery problem with the central locking system. When I lock the car, the fuel filler door should also be locked. The actuator is present and working (connecting it directly to 12volt makes the pin jump in and out). But the only way to lock the little door, is by locking my car with the lock in the trunk. Using the other 2 locks, the lid stays unlocked...
The odd thing is, when the fuel lid is locked, is does unlock when I use one of the door locks... All the wiring seems to be in order, and besides this little problem, the central locking system is working just fine...
Could this be related tot the relay box, or is there some other problem, like a broken switch or wire?
It seems like alot of people have this problem including myself. Ive heard about checking/replacing the fuse, checking the wiring for the trunk lid, and checking the actuators. Ive checked everything but the actuators and am curious if anyone can tell me how to check the actuators.
I have a similar prob. When I go to lock my doors, it locks them but then it unlocks by it self, so I have to hold the driver side lock down for a few seconds than lock the other doors by hand also the trunk needles to say that the fuel lid stays unlocked. Any one have the same problem?

there are micro switches on the driver & passenger doors that are prone to fail. when they do, you will have the probs complained of, and the gas door can only be opened through the trunk lock.

in this case, the problem will be an individual door sensor gone bad; or the module itself gone bad.
