where to find good water pump

i just bought my first bimmer. 95 M3, i've heard the water pumps can crack and to get a metal or aluminim one. is there any certain one I should get? thanks for any info.

Nope, just the one without the plastic impellar. Anywhere online or from the dealer. You'll want to replace the gasket and such too, but most places have a kit.

can i get the water pump changed at any mechanic ? also are there any symptoms to look for before the water pump will be gone for good ? like slight overheating, etc. ?

mine has 108K and no overheating problems at all so far, so wondeirng if the previous owner did change it...not sure

The deal with the water pump is, it just goes. Q I think you could handle doing it yourself. The hard part is just getting at the bolts for it and removing the fan. But yeah a mechanic could do it for you.

thanks kevin, but you think my car is running on stalk plastic one still ? @108K ? its 96 328i. i know thats a stupid question given the random nature of the pumps but was just looking for some experienced guesses ??
