Where is the ECU

Hi can anybody help me regarding my BMW E36 318I Convertable. I have just purchased a chip for the car and the company is asking me to provide them with the ECU no. Can annybody tell me where the ecu is located and how i get to it. Thanks

I Dont Know if its in the same place as the 325i but if it helps on the 325i if your standing infront of your car it shuld be on the top left of the fire wall, its under a foam cover with three clips.

What chip did you buy? Do you install it yourself, or do you have to send your ECU in? Also, post the results after you do it...I'm debating on a chip vs. Shark injector upgrade. Thanks

You can't be debating between a chip and shark. You only have the choice of shark injection with OBDII, which you have

Lockey here is some help, remove that black rubber and the ecu is in there.

Sharking is for ODBII cars that is cars 1996 and later.... Chipping is for cars previous to that.
