Those were the two companies I was looking at. I called wheelexchange a couple of times and they seem to be real nice, very helpful. I was actually on the phone about to order from them but still looking at wheels on other sites. The wheelexchange person picked up the phone and I decided that second that I wanted the other wheels(the ones on aaarims.com) and just asked a random shipping question. I hung up the phone and dialed up the other site.

I ordered from aaarims.com over the phone. I like to talk to someone in person especially when it is that much money, but don;t think you would have problems either way. I did not get any email confirmations because I did it over the phone, but they arrived in about 3 days. They did ship them with signature confirmation so I had to sign for them, and they would not drop them off.

I got the wheels on and they look great. I have had no problems related to who i bought them from or the quality of the wheels. The place I had them mounted was not careful and scratched my rim but that has been taken care of.
I wouldn't have any problems ordering from either one actually. But I have no real experience with wheelexchange but have also not heard anything bad about them. The replicas I bought and was looking at were all made in Europe too.

Which ones are you looking at?

here are the couple of quick pics i took of mine

i got my rims from aaarims.com

just for you knowledge.. these rims are not oem quality, they are made of a cheaper metal.. and not very well painted...

so if u have potholes and stuff like that around you, then your better off getting oem rims.. or somthing made with better materials..

also, if your not careful with what u wash the rims with, it can easily take off the finish of the rims, then they look like shit....

anyways, becareful and goodluck

Ok, I was looking at M3 wheels a while ago and wanted some, but I only found replicas and I want the oem ones. Where do you go to get oem wheels?

well i'm still looking and doing a little bit of research on the replica wheels. but i've pretty much made up my mind on M5 wheels. i'd really like to find 330ci rims or the m-parallels that will fit my 325is. i know aaarims or wheelexchange has some m-parallels for e36's but they do look a little cheaper. i posted a picture of a 330i rim, which i think its style #68. and a picture of some badass m-parallels on a e36.

A lot of OEM take-offs on Ebay.

When you say, "had them mounted", did the wheels and tires not come mounted? Or did you have someone swap the wheels for you?
I'm also looking at aaarims, which come up as "Lakeshore wheel and tire" or something like that.

I just bought a set of ASA AR1s from www.tiretrends.com

They have WICKED pricing and their customer service is A++ (which usually I would pay a premium for)

They also carry replicas, so give Morten a shout there and tell him Geoff from BMW Canada said you should check them out as an option...

I bought my wheels from aaarims.com and my tires elsewhere. I was not satisifed with the tire selection from these places and most likely you can find tires cheaper at your local firestone/tiresplus type place. The mounted the tires on my wheels, I put the wheels on the car.

The replicas are commonly cheaper not necessarily because of cheaper metals(although some do, don't get me wrong), but because they are cast alloy and not forged alloy which can make them weaker. It all comes down to being careful. I avoid potholes with my 15" OEM rims, so why the hell wouldn't I avoid them with my low profile tires on 17" rims. Certain replicas are better than others, but from what I have heard these sites are both good. They are not going to be as good as OEM but they are also less than half the price, sometimes you have to sacrifice something and most of us don;t have the money for new OEM wheels.

If you like the style 68(yes that is the correct number by the way), look in the classifieds. I have seen those wheels fairly regularly for sale there. Plus the OEM style 68 from an E46 will fit your E36 just fine.

Oh yeah and you can get the OEM ones from multiple places do some internet searching, but you can always find them at your dealer. They can order them in for you and have a catalog you can look at. EXPENSIVE I must say though.

Thanks, I really like them alot and get compliments constantly. I wish I could see what they look like rolling though. I have never let anyone drive my car including family and friends, so don;t know that I will see them moving anytime soon.

I actually looked at the style 68 and style 66. The style 66 on wheelexchange were the ones I was going to order.

I'd reccomend AAA Rims....Out of Michigan, their shipping is fast and reasonable priced. The wheels were in great shape, painted well, and are very close to real OEM. The part that i liked best is that their deal with wheels and tires together. I ended up saving about $75 that way. Additionally theywere balanced better than any other balancing system i've used before.

thanks matt for the info. I think i might be going with aaarims and with the M5 wheels. the style 68 on their website isn't that close to OEM at all. well it has the same design but you can tell automatically that they aren't that close.
