i bought my 92 325 i for 6000 with some m3 mods and it was in mint condition except for i had tyo install a new torque converter [guibo] sounds like you have a good deal going just thought i would let you know
no no no no! the clutch wining is your throw out bearing, and that costs the same as replacing the clutch, you have to remove the transmission, 02 sensor, not a problem, abs light, probably a sensor,t ires and alignment will probably cost u too.
tires $300-500 depending on what you want. Alignment 4-wheel alignment $150 at dealer, $80-90 at random shop. I would guess that the car needs $1500-2000 right off the bat to get the problems you mentioned fixed but the only true way to find out is to take it to a mechanic and have them check it out.
Sounds to me like you are just curious and do not want to buy it though.....correct?
Your friend could probably sell it for what he is asking if not a little more though.
If a car has been sitting for 2 years most of the seals probably have gone bad and may begin to leak. If i car is not driven the owner usually has lots of problems with it when it is....i think is probably not worth it unless you can do alot of the work yourself...labor and parts start adding up really fast...maybe you can talk him down to $1000, then it might be worth it. (my two cents)

I agree, I spent 3,500 on my baby, and dropped about a grand into it off the back, still have a bit of body work to do, and minor mechanicals, but I dont think of it as setback, I think of it as a long term project =D.
A project that needs money. =\
Lots of it. =(
But if you're commited to it, it will treat you good in the long run, and can you find a better deal on a car for only 2,500?! Thats what I see early '90's Honda's going for.
