What is supposed to light on the AC unit?

I recently purchased a 1994 325is and was driving it at night the other day and when i went to adjust the temperature i couldnt find the dials. The only things lit were the ac button, rear defroster, and recirculate. Is this a design flaw, because it was really hard to find the lights or is this a problem with my heater/ac unit? If it is a problem, which i think it is, would the solution be in the Bentley's book? If its not how would i go about fixing it. Thank you in advance for your responses and advice. Ryan

hey, i have the same problem for my 93, i guess thats just the way it is... i eventually got used to the feel of each knob....
