What's That Tone I Heard Twice

Hi Very simple question, might be simple but since I drive a bmw for only a few months...

It happened at least twice (probably more but the music covered it )... while driving, I hear a small DING (electronic) like a tone sound... does that mean something?

The inspection lights are OK (all green)... no check engine, door left open, trunk open, no ASC disabled or ABS problem,.... !!

Any idea?

it happens at 38 degrees. it means its cold and there coiuld be ice.

Oh Snap :P ,
I was driving to Newark last night and I heard the same "ding ding ding" sound . I knew it wasn't my clock memo because it was 12:36am and not 12:00am (on the hour). It sounded like the "seatbelt" reminder sound I hear in other cars. I sort of figured it had to do with temp cuz' the temp dramatically dropped from 40 degrees to 32 degrees with in a 30 min interval the further into Jersey I drove. I actually came on the forum today to post this same question. JTBS (just to be sure)!

If you set your OBC to memo (alarm) It will beep every hour, on the hour!
It's a freaky sound that scared me the first time I heard it...because it comes from behind the steering wheel (like under the tachyometer). and its a loud "BEEP"..."BEEP"..."BEEP"....!
Like the car is gonna explode....

Wow, up until this point me and my friends refered to it as the " COol Guy " detector because it would go of randomly... i guess we aren't as cool as we thought... ghead

It means it's cold outside.... like you didn't already know lol.

Take the temperature gauge in the front left brake airduct and disconnect it. (it's the yellow thing cliped into a hole in the side of the brakeduct) That will shut it the f**k up but will now display that the temp is -79 or something for 5-7 seconds on your OBC after you turn your car on.... that's better than driving 2-10 minutes and then having it "bing" at you and STARTLE you while your driving.
