I know that adding an aftermarket exhaust to a 318 won't increase any horsepower and I don't really care about that. I also know that the exhaust won't sound as good on a 318 as it would on a 325 or 328. I'm just wondering what a good aftermarket exhaust set up for a 318 would be. Again I'm not expecting a deep throaty exhaust, just something better that the stock one I have now.
Thanks Guys!

if i can get my sister to lend me her video camera i will prove to you that a 318 can have a nice and decently throaty exhaust.

I've tried a lot of exhaust systems and nothing really sounds good on a 318. The problem is that it has stainless steel exhaust manifolds which means a louder aftermarket exhaust system will give it that rattling tin can noise like a Honda civic. However, get a turbo and your problems are solved.
Back to the question, since nothing really sounds good on a 318, I'd vote for anything quiet. I'd say ANSA or Supersprint for the quietest, 2nd for somewhat quiet, Borla or Stromug, the louder ones, Mozart, Magnaflow, B&B triflow, brullen and Remus.
The only really loud exhaust that I liked on the 318 was the B&B. If your going to get an exhaust system, make sure you get the cat backs. For some reason just buying the mufflers makes the exhaust note really loud. Probably too much back pressure.
Personally, I've owned supersprint, magnaflow, borla and ANSA. I loved the supersprint and ANSA the best. I'm using the ANSA right now. I really hated the magnaflow. It sounded really loud and quite good when I punched it. However, it had a really annoying droning sound which really got to me. Anyways, a quality cat back exhaust system will give you some power if you've got a chip. It gives you some nice gains at high end which you can definitely feel if you like to rev the engine.
