what oil to use in 325is

The dealer told me to use 5w-30 if i am gonig to use synthetic. But the manual says like 15w-40 or somthing like that. Why would it be different for reg. as compared to synthetic. Thanks

where do you live? is it hot where you are? i would suggest the 15w-40 if its hot where you are for summer, and if gets cool where you are id go with the 5-30

i am in connecticut so cold in the winter and like 75-90 in summer.

really cold up in these parts let me tell you. I run semi-synthetic on mine (240 000 KMS) 10-30 in the winter and 5-30 in the summer. I just may try the 15-40 cause you guys always seem to be right... hey FURIOUS no problems with 15-40 in T.O.?

i use Mobil1 0w40 all year. my car runs better on that then the 5w30 or 10w30.

15w__ is definetly way too think unless you live in a desert or something. i use 10w in the summer and 5w in the winter, but using synthetic 10w30 can go all year long unless you have extremes.

I used the BMW 5w30 synthetic in my 95 325is and never had a problem...unless the car is older than 96 we use the synthetic (unless cust says otherwise) and cars older than 96 we use 15w40.
