I have a 4 dr 95 325i and after I get it out of the shop, I was wanting to add a new CD player, likely something that will match the interior best I can without much regaurd for features and such, as I already have a $1500 system in my 03 Hyundai Tiburon.. So thats about $150-200 for a CD player w/install I'm guessing.

If anyone has any suggestions on what CD player to get, please let me know.

Also, I want to try and get a cold air intake for this car, to get a little better gas mileage.. I noticed there is a advertisement on the BMW home page here for some kind of "Tornadonator" ?.. $70 for that, promises like a 20-30% better fuel efficiency, which i dont quite believe.. The Injen CAI on my Hyundai Tiburon gets me about 2 mpg extra and I paid $200 for it.. But i got it more for the extra power, not gas mileage.. With my BMW, i have plenty of power, but just want better fuel efficiency..

Other question is, has anyone tried to paint their brake calipers on this model? If so, does it look ok or would i be wasting my time?

I'm definitely going to get the windows tinted (25% front, 30% back passenger/quarter panels, and 50% rear: note: highest legal tint I can get them), but it's like $125 at the shop I use, so no biggie there. If you have suggestions on whether I should lower the tint % anywhere, let me know..

Also, I'll be thinking bout upgrading the lights on the vehicle, I hear "Silver Stars" are good choices for the E36.. $35-40 or so.. I have some Xexon's on my Tiburon, but they didnt do much better then my originals, so think i'll go with whatever everyone else gets.

I don't want to spend no more then $400-500 doing upgrades on this vehicle

I'm pretty sure the lower then % of tint, the darker. I have a CAI and I didn't see any improvement in gas mileage but then again...I don't drive my car like a granny. If you just want different bulbs, then yeah go with silver stars. If you're only looking to spend 400 to 500 then I think you've pretty much figured out what you are going to buy anyways...GL.

First of all, hopefully your E36 is a 5 speed; manual transmission cars have better gas milage. If you want to make sure your fuel economy is good/above average, id make sure the car is perfectly maintained, your using good quality gas and that the tires are at the correct pressure.

If you have 500 to spend on upgrades and want better gas mileage i would spend $300 on an computer chip and $200 on a freeflow exhaust.

with a chip, you have to use 91 or better. if this guy wants better mpg, he probably doesnt want to get a chip and spend more on 91 gas.

also, on tint %s, the lower the number, the darker it is. it means the % of visivle light that gets thru. 90%=only 10% blocked. 5%(limo tint)= 95% blocked(DAAARK)

i just wanted to throw this in about 91 gas. if and only if your car calls for it, then its okay to use 91. if it calls for 89, like mine, use 89. in some cases it can be bad to use 91 if your car calls for 89. there will be no preformance boost to use 91 if your car calls for 89. if your car calls for 91 and you use 89, you will only lose a few at most horsepower from what the specs call for.

engineers know that not in all places have 91 gas, so they have to make their engines run on 89 just as well
