My name is Hutch and i am brandy new to this forum and more or less to the world of BMW's. I mean dont get me wrong i have always loved and drooled over them but now i am in a position to buy one in the near future! With this new excitment comes the delema of what to buy?! As im sure you all know there are about 8 billion different 3 series alone many of wich i am not compleatly familiar with, so i figured what better place to get some heads up then on a BMW forum ! Ok, so im interested in a 3 series something fairly sporty but not terribly expensive..... trust me i am under know dillusion that im going to get an M3 but i would like something sporty with the potential for upgrades and more speed . Any advice or thoughts would be much apprecaited. Thanks in advance.

hmm. 328 is pretty sporty i would think. i got a 325 with a 5 spd and it seems pretty sporty so the 328 must be even better. i would get an m3 over anything tho. well, except for m5.

Yea sorry about posting it in each of the 3 series forums, but i figured this way would get the best feed back since each forum is year specific and such. Thanks.

first off.... to the forums.. basically when u buy a bimmer.. u buy an awsome machiene.. parts and service are pretty exspensive.. but well worth it!!
now, to your question...
sporty and fast = M3... but they still go for about 17k with lower mileage..I personally have a 323is... LOVE it.. could be faster but i don't care.. u want some speed and have sportiness at the same time.. get a 328is.. 190hp and 210 tourque. and your good to go...

Saw it in the theatre back in the day and loved it although you should have seen some of the faces after the show, most people were like "umm, so i think (this) happened".
Anyways on to your question, i have a 325is, love it although i too want a little more speed. If you look around the forums here though and just read posts you can find alot of information about the cars and what kind of upgrades you can do. From what i have heard there is not a real huge difference in speed between the 325 and 328, not anything that is immediatesly noticable like the difference between a m3(i could be wrong but i did not notice a difference). I have driven all the 3 series besides the 318. I would recommend highly that you get a 5 speed, no matter what the engine size is that is going to automatically make the car "sportier".
