What ' E number ' is my BMW ?

Everybody,

I am a newbie to this forum and have a question for you !

I recently had a burglary and amongst other things they stole the key to our BMW !

I now have to have the locks changed but am unsure if my BMW is an E34, E46 etc?

The Beamer is a V reg 1999 316i Compact.

Also is changing the locks a hard job to do yourself because i have been quoted some high prices by a couple of garages and might give it a go myself!!??

ref changing the locks, its possible for a DIY but its a lot of messing, did it years ago...................

I think the first year of the e46 compact was 2001 and also it was referred to as a ti, the e36 compact 316i (<- no t) was made from 1994-2001, so it might be an e36, if you search google for either e36 or e46, it will become clear right away.

Hi All

Thanks for all your help in trying to solve my problem!
I managed to buy some second hand locks for the car and have them fitted by our local BMW specialist - So all is fine now !
