What are some opinions out there? Would it be a crime to put an m3 bumper on my non m3? I have the opertunity to get a m3 bumper given to me, i will just have to have it painted. I have m3 repicas and a m3 catback exhaust, but i don't want ppl to think that im trying to fake that i truely do have a m3. Would the bumper be too much? I mean its not like im going to put a m3 badge on, im proud of my 328is.

Nah There's nothing wrong with the M- body kit. The only thing that's against the code would be the //M badging or excessive use of //M stickers or decals
Thats the Rice Tradition...
(I'm sure you wouldn't do that anyway, from the look of your ride you seem like someone with good taste)

My sh*t is not disco. Thank You.
Personally, I think you should do what moves ya. Who cares what someone thinks. I certainly wouldn't put an //M3 badge on your car, but that's just me.
Also, I'm all for anyone adding a mod that serves a purpose. In this case you would be rewarded with better aerodynamics and venting for the brakes. Oh yeah, it looks great too, but I would (er...I did) add the whole ///M aero kit, as it does look great.
Anyway, as for your question...I don't think it's a crime at all!! I personally have an m3 front bumper, m3 rear bumper/diffuser/valence, and m3 rear deck wing (I can send ya some pics if you like). I knew I had to change out my bumpers, and I just can't see myself getting one of those awful aftermarket ones. The M kits look really clean, and as long as you keep that nice little 328 badge on the back you are covered. Recently I put some M3 Side trimmings on my car, and as you know, they have M3 written on them. I didn't get them so people would think I had an m3, I got them because our crappy rubber, skinny trim peices look awful. I probably could have gotten the M-Tech peice in them, but I really don't like it.
Point being, any idiot who claims you think you own an M by putting m body kits on it, you can immediatly shut him up and say, "if I wanted everyone to think I drove an M don't you think I would have done the simplest and cheapert most by swapping badges?"
And like Jilly said, who cares what someone else thinks? It's your car.
even though putting a m3 bumper on ya ride is played out. i think you should do it. more aerodynamics and gives ya car a better look since you already got the m3 rims. but damn the e46 m3 look front bumper is sweet.
My car came with the m body kit and I think it looks awesome! My car looks damn close to the m3 without the really high insurance rates! The M look just looks sexier in my opinion, but keep that little badge on the back that says 328is or people will laugh at you!
