I am gonna put my k&n filter in and take out the stock airbox in my m44 from my 99 318ti... Can you please look at the picture below and give me some advise on what to do with these and what exactly they are for? thanks in advance
im pretty sure that the one on the left is the air mass sensor, and you'll need to plug that into a whole that should exist on the new intake piping, and the pipe on the right is some sort of air return blow off deal, in my car my kit came with a small air filter looking thing that you put into that tubing, or where the upper part of that tubing attaches rather

actually that might not be the air mass sensor, that might be the deal on the tubing right before the air box, but it is some sort of sensor, there was one on my 318i and my filter had a whole right after my filter to plug it into

I am actually sure the right part is the air mass sensor integrated with a temperature sensor. I couldn't find what the left part might be in my Bosch Motronic manual. Can you give me the name of the DME in your car?

the one on the left is the iat sensor the one on the right that's circled is the mass air flow sensor connector the actual mass air flow sensor is the cylindrical portion to the left of the connector.
Ok I just looked at it in my car, the left one is definately IAT cause I pulled it and saw the sensor. The IAT should plug into your new intake.
Now the confusion still remains on that hose, it appears to run off of a air injection compressor. So I am assuming it is just pulling in filtered air off of that, so in theory if you just took K&N valve cover breather filter and put it on, it should work just fine.
Zq-8_dawg--can you post the item number of the auction or the sellers user id so i can check into it. All I have for my intake is the k&n and the pice to attch it to the air flow sensor.. there is no pipe with any place to put the ait.
