Wet carpet!!

Okay it's rained for like the last week or so here but...today was nice and sunny so I washed her car when I got home. I didn't need to vacume but just wanted to kinda shake the dirt of the mats. When I picked up the passanger side the mat was kinda damp and twoards the door it was soaked! now the driver side is a little damp but like I said it's been raining for like a week so thats no big surprise but no one was really in the passanger side. I'm gonna let my mechanic get it up on the lift to take a peak under neath but is thier anything I should be looking for?

btw..I know nothing was open when I washed it becuase nothing else was wet in the interior except the capret. Anything you can guys can think of would help..

yes there are a few plugs that are located under the car, they are small metal plugs a bit smaller than the size of a hockey puck. if they are missing than thats where your problem is going to lie.

this is another possibility. this may be a shot in the dark but...

i had a wet carpet and it turned out to be the a/c evaporator catchment overflowing into the cabin. evaporator drain was plugged. if this is the case for you, it could be just coincidence that you noticed the wet carpet after a rain. it may have already been wet prior to that.

Well we've been using the heat but haven't used the ac. Where is this evaporator drain?

I'm gonna have my mechanic throw her up on the lift tomorrow to see if all the plugs are in.

Thanks

if you haven't been using a/c, then evaporator drainage probably isn't the problem.

but for future reference, the evaporator housing is behind center console, PITA to get to. the drain itself is a short stubby rubber hose, only a couple of inches long, two elbow bends if i remember correctly. you can see the exit point under the car, an oval hole up near the top of the tranny/driveshaft tunnel. if the hose somehow gets loose from the evaporator or the drain orifice, it can also leak into the cabin. a cracked evaporator housing can also leak water, but it is rare.

I have a 325 convertible and water pools under the carpet right in front of the back seat. It appears to be running under the carpet and soak into the carpet pad. I have replaced every seal that I know of and it still is taking in water from somewhere. I need help bad !!!
