when i turn off my 325is, it sounds like static and sometimes kind of a gurgly sound comes from the back of the engine or in the dash. do u guys think it could possibly be part of the heater system like the heater core or something? but it doesn't happen all the time. the noise is kinda undescribable. -Thanks, any help will be appreciated. used
My older 95 318i did that noise..like a rumbling gurgle if that makes any sense to you all..it really is undescribable..and it only happens when you turn the car off and if the heat/AC was on i beleive. I lived with the noise for a year and a half before i totaled it. It has something to do with the blower and/or ducts..not sure but it definitely isnt engine related..
yeah. thats exactly it! at least someone knows what i'm talkin about. does anybody else know what it could be or if it happens to them? i think its kind of common in e36 bmw's.
I have this same thing happen to me. I had the Climate control unit out of the car when I shut if off, and it appears that this noise is caused by a cooling fan on the climate unit.
i believe we had this discussion a while back and came to the conclusion that it is the vents deep within the dashboard opening and closing the ventilation system

yah my car is the same way, when you shut of the car with the heater or a/c running it will make those noises for a few moments before it all shuts off, probably due to pressure still in the system. nothing to worry about
the real question is....does your car make a squealing noise like a turbo blow off valve a little after you turn your car off after using the a/c..mine does, still takes me by suprise sometimes. intersting stuff

cool i should look into the climate control unit. is it hard to take out guys? i haven't even tried looking for it yet. -Thanks, any help will be appreciated.
First you take your computer that is under the climate control out. You do this by putting your hand in the storage hole under the computer and stick you finger up into a hole that lets you touch the computer. I believe there is a button that pushes up and then you can just pull the unit out. Once that is out you can stick you hand behind the climate control unit and push it out. The fan is on top so you can use an air compressor of those keyboard cleaners to get the dust out. You can also take the fan out and clean it that way. Good luck
