my car wouldn't start the other day and i got it towed to this really good garage and they say that the code that they are getting is one that the car is like in burgular safe lock down mode so in other words it isn't sending any power to the starter when i turn the key it does nothing other than tell me that my tailgiht was burned out and i can't seem to change it right but back to the point does any one no how to turn this code off or what do i need to replace? i know that there is that code u put in the computer but u have to actiovate it first at least that is what i thought but even then i don't know the code. can i take it to the dealer and can they reset it or something any help would be most appreciated.
i know one of BMWs feature is a chip placed in the key and programmed to start the car. this is so that whenever someone else just comes in and a uses another key or a picklock and perhaps turn the ignition on, the car won't start.
this may be far off but you might want to have your key checked also. or try first your other key(s) if you have em.
