Weird Noise

When i turn the engine off and the car is standing, there is a strange tin like sound coming from under the car. It sounds like high pitched "tick". Almost like droping a small bearing on a tin roof.

This seems to happen when the car is cooling down but sometimes you hear it when you start the ignition.

Any thoughts?

When you say under the car do you mean under the floor board like around the transmission or do you mean under the hood? Is teh noise repetitive? What about when the car is moving? When the car is accelerating?

Yeah that happened with my bro's car
on his it was the cover plate on his cat converter kinda rattlin
so it's proly something like that

Under the floor board. Sounds like from the exhaust system directly under the drivers seat. It also is more consistent when the car is hot or cooling off.

Thanks - that is in the same region that the sound is coming from. I will have a look. Because it occurs when the car is hot, it could be something heating up and then making the noise when cooling down.

I think you are refering to what I call the "metallic drip noise". It's a constant "tick tick tick" right after turning the ignition off. It is just the exhaust mainfold cooling down. I am pretty sure its normal
