It's been cold here in Illinois lately, and when I start my car in the morning, I've been noticing a strange noise from what seems to be the *back* of the dash, near where the brake master cylinder would be on the firewall. It's this somewhat rhythmic humming noise, and it's quite noticeable. It seems to have no real pattern, as it just goes "brrrrrrrrrrrr...brrrrrrrr..brrrr......brrrrrrrrr. .." and so on. It goes away after the car is sufficiently warmed up (about halfway to work).
I've read something about a mono valve? Is this what I'm hearing? If so, is it functioning properly? Is the sound something I should just get used to? Is something about to break? What is the "mono valve" and what does it do? Can it be disabled? I don't really like the sound, and if I don't need it, I'd be inclined to take it out. Any help would be great. Thanks!

Hi Eric, Not sure if your NOISE is the same as MY NOISE problem.... but my noise was a Brr... cracking... static sound. In either case, I located the sound point of orgin on my car. (93 318is) It was coming from a tiny speaker under the dash between the steering wheel and brake/gas/clutch pedal. I removed the dash cover and figured out which wire to disconnect. Sound is now gone!
I remember reading about that...I think my sound is different. It's a humming sound, and I can actually feel it very slightly as it vibrates the pedals... still confused. Thanks though!
