I am trying to get a used engine for my bmw 318i e36 m43, but recently found out that not all 94 model 318i were the same. There were m42's and m43'
If i have an m43 can i put an m42 engine into it?? wats th difference between the engines also
Second problem is my drivers side window. I went to bring down my windows and the window seemed to come off its rail, turning sideways and not fitting back in. I have managed to sort of allign it back up, but it still doesnt go in properly, seems to stick out up the top. How do i fix this?
Interior door panels are comming off and it makes the car rattle as i drive but also makes a bad sound when i close the doors. Wat size clips do these use to hold in place, and where can i purchase these
i always thought the m42 went until 95 and then they started to put the m43 in the 96+318's.. correct me if i am wrong.. as for putting the other engine in your car.. im sure you could.... but might need more work? and as for the door... this is a very common problem with e36;s mine has done it to me twice... you have to buy more door pins (they can be found on ebay) but a local hardware store has them here for 5 cents a peice as compared to 16$ for 20 or so.. so i liked that... anywyas you take the dor off replace the clips and retack any other part of the door that seems to be falling off making more weight to put the panel off again...
thx
with your idea on the m43/42 my m43 has build date of 1/94 so im not sure, im from Australia so i dont know if they were just exporting us a special breed of bmw's
thanks
ohhh well if y9ou are from austraillia that may be why! i know in the us what i said about 95- and 96+ holds true... as for australia... i know they had them before
check that and you can see wat engine i have, i just need a well used engine to replace this one, i would like to replace it easily with as little hassles as possible
ive been trying to keep doing research for you.. but the australia thing is kind of hard.. im not sure since they release trhe m43 over there before 96 (when they released it here) if the m43 is still a 1.9 with obd2 or since its not in the us or anything if its the same as the m42 as obd1 and but a 1.9litre.... I would say whatever your car had in it, put back in it... And as for the window try taking off your door panel and getting to the window... obvously something happened in there, and its making the window not work right.. im sure if you just got in there with the panel off you can diganoise it yourself and be on your way!
Thx This afternoon i will organise to find another engine the same as mine, and for the window problem, i had planned to take off the panels, well i dont really need to take them off they seem to be comming off themselves :P so ill go to the local hardware store and find out wat i need to get those damn panels to stay in place
and thanks again for your help, makes it alot harder me being an aussie
yeah i hope everything works out for you.. if not people sell those clip things on ebay all the time... one thing i would trust to buy on ebay.. of you can find them at a dealership etc.. you should look into fixing the door.. probably same time you do the window becuase the door will be hard to get back on after the panel comes all the wya off...
removing the whole panels to fix the door lock also :P needs a new actuator thingy, and then fix the window then replace all the clips, is this a diy job or stealership?
