Water pump removal - BMW Forum

okay im pissed! im trying to get the lower timing case cover off my m42. so i have to pull out the water pump. in the manual it says to put 2 screws into the pump and that should pull it out. so i try it and it breaks the outside of the pump and the damn thing is stuck inside there and wont budge! what the hell am i supposed to do?

peanut butter blaster? haha im kidding i just broke the damn thing out of it with a nice sized hammer. luckily i have two other pumps!

You may have cocked the housing to much causing the breaking and getting it stuck. I did mine and the clearance is very small. So, tap lightly on the side that has the most space between the block and housing so there is equal space and screw out equally.You may have to use a screw driver to help,but use very carefully. GGH
