Warning Light Please Help

Hi there, when i start up my E36 316i i get a warning light ( next too the handbrake light ) that is a circle with 3 small lines on each side of the circle.
What is this light for. I cant find my user guide. Thanx.

this is a shot in the dark, but is it your brake lights (i.e. brakes are worn)?

My guess it's your 'Brake lining wear indicator'..

"Comes on when the starter cranks engine and goes out after engine has started. If the light comes on have the break pads inspected w/o delay" according to the manual..

most definitely brakes. i double checked in the manual. did this help (you get them fixed yet)? if you don't reply, i'll assume your brakes failed and you died in a firey crash. just kidding. :P best of luck...
