want to put a m3 engine in my 318is 1997

the thing that you would need to keep in mind is that your 318 is a base model 4 cyl. You would be converting it to a high performance engine that is a 6cyl. That means changing motor mounts and all kinds of stuff under the hood. Additionally, you would have to beef up the suspension, steering, tires etc. If you did do it, naturally you should get one out of a 1997. Why do you want an m3 engine anyway? Just buy an m3 or get a chip, cold air intake etc. You can beef up your car without removing the engine. By the time you get done changing everything, it is going to cost more than the car is worth. Once you start fooling around with that kind of upgrade, you could be inviting a host of other problems as well. Besides, you have a base model anyway. Just buy another car.

right i understand what u saying , but its the m seris 318 ... i jsut want more bals but as u said that i would need to upgrade other parts such as the suspension ive already modified that and other parts every thing is already m optioned . i have m3 gear box etc. if so keep same engine and buff it up what mods would u suggest for me to do im just comparing the same power as my bros car he has a s13 silvia nissan turbo bout 200 kilowats at the rears so want about the same power and i just love my car so dont wanna buy annother love the shape etc ............ p.s thanks for repling

there is no M-series 318i. There's only a 318i with the M package. Which does nothing to the power.
If you really do put the M3 engine in your car, save your life and others by getting decent breaks.
