Vin Etching

This is what I understand: VIN etching constitutes having your VIN etched with a stencil on your windshield and windows. From what I know this can lower your insurance, since a vehicle with a VIN etched is less attractive to car robbers. Your comments?

doubt it. The VIN is already in something like 27 places in various parts of the car.

The advantage of etching is that it is less attractive to thieves because they can't sell the glass to chop shops. I had mine done several years ago and the insurance company offered 10% off the theft portion of the bill. But it was either 10% for the vin etching OR 10% for an anti-theft device. Not Both.
