I hope someone can help with my problem. The dealer seems to be at a loss. I have a 99 e36 318ti with the m44 engine, with 50,000 miles on it. Whenever it is really cold it gives me trouble ----if the temp is between 33-40 degress out it starts but idels very rough till i rev the engine and get the temp up.....If it is below 32 degress it give me a very hard time starting I have pump the gas to get it to turn over, then it idles real rough till it warms up. I have brought it to the dealer 3 times already. The first time they told me it was because a slight oil leak was foulling the spark--- after that did not fix the problem they told me it was the idle control valve. Still having the same trouble with a new icv. Does anone have any advise or things I can try. When it is above 40 derees it starts right up. oh yeah--when the engine light comes on after it idles rough it gives me a one time missfire code.... Thanks in advance I would like to get this fixed while it is still under cpo warranty.
So far the dealer has not been able to find anything definite to pin the trouble on. now the temp here in jersey is in the 50's so it is starting fine.....for now....
they told me to take it home till it gets cold again..... ughhhh
