Vertical seat position...any wear impact?

I have the leatherette upholstry in my 318i.

My question relates to whether there is any difference in upholstry wear based on different vertical seat positions. In other words, if I raise my seat higher, will the upholstry wear any more quickly?

Also, since I've never had the leatherette upholstry, what product(s) would be best to keep the material soft and supple? I would assume leather conditioner would not be a good diea, but I don't know.
