vanos mechanically stuck?

i've scanned ECU errors and have this error - "212 vanos mechanically stuck". When I delete this error "check engine" light disapears, I can drive long, everything is ok, but when I stop and start the engine "check engine" lights up after few seconds and keeps lighting all the time. What the problem it could be? Vanos solenoid ? Thanks.

that would have been my guess. to be honest its hard for me to say, but more than likely its the vanos solenoid, they are prone to go bad.

what issues will the solenoid cause? I am having misfire and driveability trouble, but no dtc and misfires only on 4-5-6. Jody

if your having misfire issues i dont think you need to look at the vanos , there is something different involved. usually the vanos solinoid affects peformance never anything that drastic.
