Up Down Feature

I have a 93, E36, two door and the "Up Down Feature" on my drivers side window does not work. The window is supposed to slide down about an inch when the door is opened and slide back up when the door is closed but it does nothing.

I'm not positive but I think it has to do with the door sensor because the window works fine when I use the put it up and down with the switch.

Does anyone know where the sensor is located and how this can be fixed?

Im not sure if this is his problem, but i was looking at mine and was thinking what would happen if it failed. I think it might get caught on the outside of the weather stripping and not tuck underneath it and seal correctly.

sensor is on door striker (where door latches on the car)....

It does make it a little harder to open and shut the door but surprisingly it still shuts and seals tight. I'm just worried its going to wear the seal down or mess the window up eventually. Also, you know how power remains to the windows even after you turn the car off until you open the door? I think, because of the door sensor not triggering, the power stays on constantly. I just had to replace the battery!

is the little switch stuck?.......open your door and push the striker switch in and out.... the window should go up/down.......

you may just want to replace them... I've replaced both of mine...

... did either window jump up and down at random while you were driving at any point?
