Well, tonight someone crashed into the bimmer. I was in the mall parking lot and someone hit my car. There is alot of white paint on the painted part of the bumper and alot on the black plastic part of the front bumper. Is there any quick fixes that you all have for this? I called the insurance, but I have a $1000 deductable, and they said since it was a hit and run that I would have to pay for the repairs. My boy is my insurance agent, so he said that he wouldn't report it until I agreed. Nothing is messed up, there is just alot of white paint that I am not really looking forward to removing. Please help if you all have any suggestions. Thanks.

can you post pics as to severity of the damage?

Sometimes the paint can be buffed out. Also, have you filed a police report? Do that. Also, call every, and I do mean EVERY body shop, detail shop, paint shop, in town, tell them your situation, and to keep you apprised if any white vehicles come in with damage that came from a swipe.

It your bumpers deeply scratched or dented, you need someone who specializes in bumper repair.

If you're anywhere near the So. Cal area, Bumpers Plus, owned by Chuck Freeman does excellent work. He fixed the curb rash on my front bumper. He's mobile and can be reached at 949 842-1255. He does work for several BMW dealers.

Well first things first, I don't have a digi cam so I can't put up pics, but I got a good look at the damage again this morning. I was hoping it was all a bad dream, but it was real. The damage wasn't too awful bad. All it did was crush in the black, plastic part of the bumper, which I pushed out pretty easily. Now all I have is a broken foglight bracket and a little bit of white paint.I should be able to get it out with a little bit of buffing. As for my insurance, I have Nationwide. I did file a police report, but finding a hit and run in this town is like hunting for a needle in a haystack. Everyone and their brother can do paint and body, so I imagine whoever hit me is probably fixing their car right now. Thanks again guys for the help and if anyone has any tricks to remove paint from either the black plastic or the main body color, please let me know.

for the body paint, try a polishing compound. I used that on my mom's lexus rear bumper when she backed into one of those yellow cement posts and got yellow paint on the corner that wasn't coming off anytime soon. That stuff got all the paint off, but the post scraped down through the primer coat and down to the bare polypropaline or whatever (plastic). So that's the grey stuff you see.
You have to use touchup paint on those areas, on my pic, those areas would look way too obvious if you just used touchup paint if you do it yourself so it's better to get it totally repainted. (we obviously didn't do that because my mom isn't trying to impress anyone with her car :P )

Well after a long day in the hobby shop and a little wet sanding, I got everything fixed. Even took her into the paint booth and touched everything up while I was at it and the car looks pretty good if I might say so. Don't get me wrong, it was a pain in the ass, but I found a quick fix to get paint off. Take some 1000 grit sandpaper and a little water and go to work. Just make sure that you keep the surface wet at all times or you will start to get into the clearcoat. Once all the paint is removed, just take some scratch remover, I used Blue Coral, and buff out where you sanded. Now it looks like it was never even hit. Thanks for all the help guys and I hope my little tip helps someone some day. :P

Don't fell too bad. One day when I got off work only to find my whole front bumper (M3) gone when I say gone I MEAN GONE alone with every thing. Foglight wire cut even the reinforce bar was gone. You know your bumper is only held on by 4 bolts!!! Only 4 F#(Ken bolts. Cost me $1200 to put it back!!! You know the worse part it was parked 5 blocks away from a police precinct broad day light so go figure. PS one of the bolt is now spot welded.
