| U-Joint Troubles
I need to replace the u-joint on my 98 323IS. When I was replacing the flex joint and mid-shaft support bearing, I noticed the u-joint appeared as if it were mounted to the driveshaft in a manner it was not to be removed. I have since found out you have to replce the entire driveshaft...Not me! I plan to use a die-grinder to remove the retaining tabs and press out the u-joint, then take the u-joint down to a driveline shop and get a replacement. After I install the new joint, I'm going to weld retaining straps across each side to keep the cups from falling out.
Does anyone think this is crazy?
