Turn Off This Airbag Light....help! - BMW Forum

Ok fella's.....I posted this a couple of weeks ago and nobody could help me......I'm hoping that someone out there knows the answer so I'm going to ask again before I have to take my ride to the dealership.

My airbag light (one that looks like some dude with a big beachball on his lap) is on and won't shut off.....does anyone know how I can fix this myself?

only way is to have it reset with a tool you plug into one of the ports in the engine bay, if you dont have the tool then your SOL

mine stays on for about a minute and half then turns off. i'm wondering if thats a problem and if i have to do something about it?

This does require a scan tool to reset the light and just maybe Auto Zone or Advance has the correct tool (depending on OBD) and will reset for free. Worth a call.

had the exact same prob....needed autozone to reset the light (stealer wouldn't do it w/o one hour's $$$).

turned out the passenger clasp assembly triggered it. no prob since.

I have had mine on for last 1 year, I had it fixed then it went back on. This is quite dangerous because airbags won't work if that light is on. BTW I checked crash test result for my car, and they were'nt that good also.

Had mine come on a little while ago... turned out it was both the Passenger and driver's side seatbelt buckles. Replaced them both, no problems since.
