I was wondering if anyone has turbo'd a 318i motor.
I have some stuff done to it, but it needs some more kick.
I am new to the site, and really don't know much about turbo's
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Dude, save the 5 grand you would be spending on a turbo system, take that cash, sell your 318, combine those cash amounts and buy a 328 or something. NA is a ton more reliable and you'll have a faster car anyway.
No... he needs to rip out everything thats weighing down his car.... the back seat... spare tire... toolkit... sound deading material... all the plastic... EVERYTHING!
Then... he needs to fill the back area with NOS tanks... fabricate a holding system for them... toss 'em in.... then rev up on some car... so he can be elite.... cuz you know the NOS "whoosh" is way better than the turbo "whoosh"... and he can put on the big NOS decals all over his windows...
but... remember kids:
Nitrous is like a hot girl with STD's, you wanna hit it... but you're afraid of the consequences!
Adding a stage 1 turbo or supercharger is about all you can do to a 318 without having to reinforce the engine's internals or the fuel injection system. The basic Dinan supercharger or ACS Turbo will only provide about 5-7 psi to the car, bumping the HP up to 185hp and tq to about 175lbs/ft. Its somewhat significant of a power increase, but you will still be slower than 325s and 328s. It is expensive though because you don't want to BS the process with some general mechanic who thinks they could fit a turbo. The kits are expensive and the labor from a trusted mechanic or dealer would be very expensive as well. Deloriant's idea may be a better one considering a turbo will create extra wear on the engine a lot quicker than an NA engine would. Also, if you have a decent amount of miles on your 318 already, thats adding to the risk of something going wrong. Turbos sound awesome though
I would turbo my own 318, but its just not logical because I am getting up around 85k and I need my car to last as long as it can. As is, the tranny is already hurting and more power will also be more stress on my tranny. A plus to a stage 1 turbo is that it is a smaller turbo and while only creating 5-7 lbs of boost, there won't be much turbo lag...

just noticed you have 35k on your car...thats actually not that bad. Turboing your ride wouldn't be near as bad as it would on mine. But it still would create extra wear over time...

I know someone locally who has a Garret turbocharger. The kit is from mosselman. It's a turbocharged 318ti w/ an M44 motor. Basically it produces only 160 @ the wheels. The supercharger is a better choice for price, performance and reliablility.

Actually turbo is really reliable, if its tuned right. Why would he sell his 318 and with his money go buy a 328i, why not a m3? 318 and 328 are both slow cars so it wouldnt make any sense to sell his car for another slow car.
