| Transmission/Ignition problem Hello. I have a 1995 318Ti with 180,000 miles. The car has been absolutely amazing with no issues save regular maintaince, a starter motor, brake shoes, rotars and shocks/struts. Considering the mileage I'm happy. However, just last week I went to turn the ignition key and it turned around and around in a circle meeting no resistance. When I withdrerw the key, jiggled the gear shifter, re-inserted the key and tried again, the key engaged and turned the engine over. Also, the automatic transmission shifter seems to be "stiff" when the weather is cold and I hear a humble (like a ball of ice knocking up against something) on start up. This isn't evident when the weather is warmer and disappears after a few minutes when the engine reaches normal operating temperature (when the weather is cold). The transmission works well otherwise save for a slight delay when the weather is, again, cold. Comments? Oh, yes my power windows don't work either. I'll do the repair myself when the weather in Southern Ontario gets warmer. Thanks in advance for your thoughts. |
